SEC. 72. SOLICITING RIDES.

It shall be unlawful for any person to stand in a roadway for the purpose of, or while soliciting a ride from the operator of any private vehicles.

SEC. 74. TO OBEY TRAFFIC SIGNALS.

At intersections where traffic is directed by a Police Officer, a Parking Control Officer or a traffic-control signal device, it shall be unlawful for a pedestrian to leave the sidewalk or to enter the roadway other than with traffic released by the signal of such Police Officer, a Parking Control Officer or traffic-control signal device.

SEC. 76. STANDING ON SIDEWALK.

In any business district it shall be unlawful for any pedestrian to stand on the sidewalk, except as near as is practicable to the building line or the curbline.

SEC. 77. WHEN MUST USE CROSSWALKS.

Unless otherwise directed by a Police Officer or a Parking Control Officer, no pedestrian in the Metropolitan Traffic District or in any business district shall cross a roadway other than in a crosswalk, except at intersections where the Pedestrian-Phased Traffic System of crossing (Scramble) is in effect and designated by official signals.

SEC. 78. CROSSING AT RIGHT ANGLES.

Unless otherwise directed by a police officer or a Parking Control Officer, no pedestrian shall cross a roadway at any place other than by a route at right angles to the curb or by the shortest route to the opposite curb, except in a marked crosswalk and except at intersections where the Pedestrian-Phased Traffic System of crossing (Scramble) is in effect and designated by official signals.
