Hancock, Maryland needed a new website that could provide their community with government information while catering to visitors who hike the town's cities every year.

Hancock's previous website was outdated in appearance and design. When trying to find information, the abundance of drop-down menus made it hard to specifically get what one needed. Many of those who visited the site were really looking for a single page and became frustrated when these pages were buried under menus and other locations around the site. The attractions page needed a revamp as well to show off the trails that the town takes pride in. In addition, the homepage featured way too much white space and made the scroll bar way longer than it needed to be. Staff also become increasingly irritated at the outdated content management system and were looking for something that is easier to work with.

Ultimately, the staff at Hancock found Municode and their Website Design & Hosting Services. Upon entering the site, users are greeted with an image of the town as well as a seal commemorating Hancock being named "Trail Town Maryland" by the governor. These trails also have their own drop-down menu, making it easier for hikers to find out more about them. Drop-down menus have been significantly reduced in favor of quick links, which can be found below the top mega menu. This ensures anyone can find what they need and are not clicking around in an endless loop. The bottom half of the home page has been significantly improved, with less white space and a shorter scroll bar. In this section of the home page, residents will find the calendar and recent happenings around Hancock. The biggest improvement from the older website is the brand new Content Management System, which is accessible to anyone on staff. Its simplicity requires little to no training and ensures content can be created and maintain as needed. With Municode, Hancock was able to provide their community and visitors a stunning website that catered to both of their needs.
